Graeme Cornies is no stranger to the world of music. Lead singer of Canadian industrial rockers Triptaka, singer and song writer
for his own project Us & Others, and working as a full time composer for Voodoo Highway Music, Graeme is a vocalist and
multi-instrumentalist who’s always making new noise.
His work On The Digital Divide is no exception, delivering vocal performances showcasing a range of vocal styles and incredible
harmonies.
He has been honing his skills as a writer, producer and performer since the age of nine. Graeme cut his teeth on the Toronto scene
and played in many bands including Fellow Nameless, Blue Sativa, Us and Others, & Hyde.
He declares himself as a “singer by necessity” but in reality he is way beyond that level. In 2006, he graduated from York University’s
World Music program, which helped give him a deeper understanding of many different types of music and expanded his musical
vocabulary.
During a visit to Toronto in the summer of 2001, Cornies was asked by longtime friend and collaborator James Chapple to provide
vocals for what eventually became Triptaka’s debut album, Second War. Along with guitarist Dave Kelly, the trio has continued to
make music together for just under a decade. Currently they are putting the finishing touches on an album of remixes called
Warning Signs, as well as being hard at work on Triptaka’s highly anticipated second album.
During the making of Warning signs, Graeme’s path crossed with Jim Davies & Pete Crossman’s Victory Pill project after they
worked on a remix for the album. After being hugely impressed with his vocal style, they asked if he would like to record some
tracks for their new offering The Digital Divide.
“I was a huge fan of the first Victory Pill album and it was an honor to lend a hand on this record. It gave me a
chance to explore a new side to my own writing and at the same time work with people I really admire.”
